Young guns’ relationship comes to light as NRL stars and partners dazzle at Dally M awards

The NRL officially has a new power couple, with Indie Bostock of the Dragons and Tevita Naufahu of the Dolphins stepping out together at the Dally M awards on Wednesday night. Bostock, who is the younger sister of Dolphins winger Jack, walked the red carpet with Naufahu on Wednesday night, where she received her award for NRLW try of the year.

The 18-year-old made her NRLW debut this year and scored the stunning try in her very first game. She had a wonderful year and looks to have a bright future ahead of her.

Naufahu also made his NRL debut this season, and quietly became one of the most exciting rookies in the game. The winger scored six tries in seven games, which actually came about because Jack Bostock suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Indie also attended the Dolphins’ presentation night last month, where Naufahu won the club’s rookie of the year gong.

Bostock and Naufahu were among the big names to walk the red carpet in Sydney on Wednesday night. They joined Jess Sergis and Tommy Talau as players in relationships who attended together. Check out all the best looks below:

James Tedesco and Tamika Upton win big at Dally M awards

James Tedesco and Tamika Upton were the big winners on the night, with Tedesco winning the Dally M, fullback and captain of the year awards. Broncos superstar Upton became the first two-time winner of the women’s Dally M, while also winning fullback of the women’s game.

Tedesco also claimed his second Dally M after a wonderful year with the Roosters. The fullback obliterated the field with 67 points – some 22 clear of the next closest in Nathan Cleary.

It comes after critics wrote him off and thought his best was behind him when he was dumped as NSW and Kangaroos captain and fullback last year. “I’ve never really felt like my performances or seasons have dipped much,” Tedesco said.

“In 2023, there was a lot of external talk. I probably wasn’t at my highest performance. But my routine and my mentality doesn’t really change. I know I am getting older, but my body is feeling as good as ever. If I keep fresh every week and I am still enjoying the game, then who knows how long I can play for.

“People keep writing me off and thinking I am going to retire soon. But that drives me to try and be the best version of myself and keep improving. I still think my best footy can still be ahead of me.”

Upton snared the women’s gong after teammate Julia Robinson was rested in the penultimate round, which cruelled her chances. “I was telling her she deserved it and she was telling me I did. We are best of friends and really good teammates,” Upton said.

“It’s an honour to get this award. A few of the girls had their best individual seasons, but it’s a privilege and just a credit to the teammates I have at the Broncos.”
