China’s MIIT given more power to regulate cross-border data transfers · TechNode


China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) published a regulatory draft on Thursday, which could give itself a clear say in reviewing cross-border data transfers, alongside the Cyberspace Administration of China. According to the draft, data processors will be prohibited from providing industrial and information data to foreign industrial, telecoms, or radio law enforcement agencies without MIIT approval.
