• DY6 wraps up soil and rock chip sampling at Tundulu, targeting high-value zones
  • Growth opportunity for gallium and REE with only 40% drill tested so far
  • Ground team collecting samples at Machinga HREE and niobium project

Special Report: DY6 Metals is swiftly advancing its rare earth, gallium and niobium opportunities in Malawi with sampling programs at the Tundulu and Machinga projects.

The company has wrapped up a program of 90 soil and rock chip samples at Tundulu and is moving to a 116-sample program at Machinga.

DY6 Metals (ASX:DY6) CEO Cliff Fitzhenry said the company was very satisfied with the company’s progress across its Malawi assets.

“The completion of follow-up sampling at Tundulu marks another important milestone in advancing what we believe is a highly strategic project, with significant exposure to gallium, rare earth elements and phosphate,” he said.

Two active field programs in parallel

DY6 sampling at Tundulu targeted high-value mineralised zones, seeking extensions of previously identified high-grade gallium and rare earth element (REE) mineralisation.

The company is confident Tundulu holds plenty more exploration potential, having only investigated about 40% of the project’s prospective area with the drill bit.

DY6 is particularly interested in deep-seated mineralisation and untested gallium potential which could offer a substantial resource expansion.

“Early results and historical data continue to highlight the outstanding grade profile and scalability of Tundulu, and we see clear potential to define a globally relevant gallium and REE resource,” Fitzhenry said.

“With only a fraction of the project area tested to date, the upside opportunity remains substantial.

“At the same time, our new sampling program at Machinga is targeting high-priority anomalies and building on recent successful drilling.

“The strong geological continuity we’re observing gives us growing confidence in the potential to expand mineralisation and unlock further value.”

More from DY6 Metals: Expanding into a world class Cameroonian rutile collection

Sampling at the Machinga project is concentrated on a 400m by 200m grid over a strong radiometric anomaly and drilling from 2023 that produced up to 15.1m at 1.01% total rare earth oxides and 0.36% niobium from 23.9m.

“DY6 Metals is systematically advancing a critical metals portfolio that aligns with global demand trends for clean energy and advanced technologies,” Fitzhenry said.

“We are excited by the momentum building across our projects and remain focused on delivering meaningful exploration results that drive shareholder value.”

Globally, demand for rare earths is soaring, nearly doubling from 2015 to 2021 and projected to potentially double again before 2050.

Much of that demand is being driven by the uptake of clean energy technologies, particularly permanent magnets for applications like wind turbines, electric vehicles and advanced medical equipment such as MRIs.
