El asistente guatemalteco Humberto Panjoj se desplom minutos antes del final del primer tiempo al sufrir un golpe de calor, ya que la sensacin trmica en Kansas superaba los 38 grados de temperatura y 60% de humedad.

Tras unos minutos de pnico, el rbitro fue reanimado y evacuado en camilla al hospital, donde se le hicieron pruebas. Fue sustituido por el cuatro rbitro ecuatoriano y el partido sigui normalmente.
